Leamington's Natural Attractions

Leamington is a hub for bird watchers, naturalists, hikers, hunters, fishermen and eco-tourists. Point Pelee National Park is a beautiful peninsula stretching into Lake Erie with more than 12 kilometers of park trails meandering though its marshes and woodlands at the most southern tip of Canada. World renowned due to it hosting the largest variety of migrating species of birds and monarch butterflies.
Point Pelee Park is ideal for bird watching during migration because it's the first resting place for migrating birds after crossing Lake Erie from Ohio. It's also fantastic for walking and biking, with a boardwalk through the marshes and the Centennial Bike and Hike Trail that consists of a shaded, winding trail through the forest and past beaches.
To soak up more natural beauty and view lots of birds, visit the Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary, Seacliff Park and Hillman Marsh. The Jack Miner Bird Sancutary offers visitors an opportunity to feed Canada geese, green head mallards and wood ducks, among other species around the pond. Seacliff Park has beaches, picnic areas, baseball diamonds and a playground. Hillman Marsh also has beaches where visitors can sun and swim, as well as a nature center with educational exhibits and places for picnicking, canoeing, hiking, fishing, and in the winter months, skiing.
